Troubleshooting - QXL 80040409 Error

Problem Description:

I am trying to export data from QXL. But when I clicked on the QXL export button, I got the below error message.

The current version of QuickBooks cannot work with the specified company data file.

Error Occurred :[QODBC] QB Begin Session Failed. Error = 80040409, The current version of QuickBooks cannot work with the specified company data file.

Solution:

You may encounter the above error when your QuickBooks company file is updated to a higher version of QuickBooks & you are trying to use it in an older QuickBooks version.

For Example:

If you try to open QuickBooks 2017 company file in QuickBooks 2016 or a lower version, you will get the above error.

You can open QuickBooks company files in the same or a higher QuickBooks version. But, You can't open the QuickBooks company files in the lower QuickBooks version.
