[QODBC-Desktop] Known issues with QuickBooks 2014 SDK
Posted by Rajendra Dewani (QODBC Support) on 30 September 2013 08:01 AM

Environment

QuickBooks 2014

QODBC 14.0.0.298

QODBC is an ODBC driver for QuickBooks. It uses the QuickBooks SDK to communicate with QuickBooks & QuickBooks company files. QODBC can show/fetch only the information which is exposed/provided by QuickBooks SDK.

A few changes in the QuickBooks SDK for QuickBooks 2014 return incorrect data, causing QODBC to fail.

Below are the known issues with QuickBooks SDK.

1) InventoryStockStatusByItem, InventoryStockStatusByVendor & InventoryValuationDetail does not show any result.

2) Customer table  "Contact" Field is not returning data.

3) A few of the report(s) show detailed information, which earlier showed summary information. Rows are no longer grouped as "--Multiple--."

4) A few of the report(s) show summary information which earlier showed detailed information. Rows are now grouped as "--Multiple--."

Please get in touch with Intuit if you need to use the data that this recent update has disabled.

The Contact Field no longer displays in the Edit Customer or Edit Job windows. However, it does show up when one Exports the Customer List

I downloaded Qodbc trial and had that Windows security proble.
However I "used it anyway" and can access the QB file. It does not seem that I have the write function that I need. How can I see if I have the read/write version and if I can't get past the 'security proble is that needed to use the read/write.
Thanks

Hi Lee,

You can check licensing detail from:
QODBC Setup Screen >> About Tab
About tab will display which type of license you have. If you have Read Only License then it will show Read Only. If you have Server Edition then it will show Server Edition.

I have been working with the QODBC read write desktop driver. I just tried a test and the contact field did not update with a write in QBks, though I was able to update company and an address line. Has anyone else seen this? IS it related to the second item above on the Contact field not returning data?

Hi Alex,

This is known issue with QuickBooks 2014 SDK. Customer table "Contact" Field is not returning data.

QODBC is an ODBC driver for QuickBooks. It uses the QuickBooks SDK to communicate with QuickBooks, which means if Intuit doesn’t expose one feature to application in SDK, QODBC could not do it either.

I am not sure if this will do what I am wanting it to do. We create our invoices in a courier software and I want to then upload them into my QB file where all of the accounting and reporting is then done. I know our software writes crystal reports and has SQL database. Is this something that this function does

ShipToAddress causes query to fail in files with many ship to addressses for a single customer record in QBXML 12+ due to the return being a full list of shipto addresses for every customer:job.

Hi Cesar,

You can install QODBC on Computer 1 on installation you will get 30 days evaluation. Mean while you can transfer QODBC License from Computer 2 to Computer 1 by following below steps:
You need to deactivate QODBC license from computer 2, Please try to deactivate CD Key from:

Start>>All Programs>> QODBC Driver for use with QuickBooks>> Configure QODBC Data Source>>Go To "System DSN" Tab>> select QuickBooks Data>> click "configure">> switch to activate/deactivate>> click "deactivate"

After successful deactivation, Please try to activate CD Key on computer 1from:
Start>>All Programs>> QODBC Driver for use with QuickBooks>> Configure QODBC Data Source>>Go To "System DSN" Tab>> select QuickBooks Data>> click "configure">> switch to activate/deactivate>> click "activate"

For QuickBooks transfer related query you need to get in touch with Intuit.
