Troubleshooting: Connection error after QODBC or QuickBooks Upgrade

Problem Description 1

Sometimes when upgrading to a new version of QODBC, the connection test fails. If I go to the advanced tab in the setup, I get an error about not finding a dll - boost_regex-vc80-mt-p-1_33.dll. Get error 80040154 (unknown error).

Un-install and re-install did not help any.

Solutions 1

Have you ever installed the SDK?

boost_regex-vc80-mt-p-1_33.dll is a file from the SDK installed by the SDK in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks and is not installed by QODBC.

Try deleting the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks, re-install QuickBooks, and QODBC. You will need to activate QuickBooks before you can use QODBC.

Problem Description 2

      Get errors as follows:

      IsAService: False

Open Connection Failed. S0000 00000 [QODBC] QB Open Connection Failed. Error = 8004042f, The requested connection type could not be found.

      SDK Module: QBXMLRP2.DLL (IAuth2)

or

      IsAService: False

Open Connection Failed. S0000 00000 [QODBC] QB Open Connection Failed.

      SDK Module: QBXMLRP2.DLL (IAuth2)

Solutions 2

Try renaming QBXMLRP2.DLL to QBXMLRP2.bad and then re-installing QODBC.
