Troubleshooting: QuickBooks (Canada Version) won't start
When opening the CA QuickBooks multi-currency edition, you get an error message that reads, "This application has failed to start because stlport_r50.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
To fix this problem, please follow the steps below. Note: If you are using Windows Vista, the following steps must be completed by a user who is an Administrator. Here are the steps needed to fix QuickBooks.
1. Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (vcredist_x86.exe) - Download link provided below.
File Size: 2.52 MB
2. Download stlport_r50.dll and copy it into the folder called c:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks. The link is provided below.
File Size: 661 KB
3. Open QuickBooks, and from the File Menu, select Open Company File - Navigate to your company file, select the file and click the Open button. From Intuit Canada support board link: http://support.intuit.ca/quickbooks/en-ca/kb/errors/error-messages/4512.html
