Note: VB Demo is deprecated.

Please refer to How to use the QODBC Test Tool for testing

Please refer to How to Install QODBC POS and Connect to QuickBooks POS on Windows 10 for using QODBC POS on Windows 10 or other latest OS.

Install QODBC POS

Please download QODBC Installer from this site:

http://www.qodbc.com/posDownload.htm

Right Click on the Installer and select "Run As Administrator."

Please remember to uncheck the "Protect My Computer and Data From Unauthorized Program Activity."

Follow the Installation steps from the Installer,  On the CDKEY Step:

If you have purchased a license key, you can directly input your key to get QODBC POS fully functional, but if this is the first time you install QODBC POS, you can leave this option blank to get a 30 days evaluation time.

Connect to QuickBooks POS via QODBC POS

First, please open QuickBooks POS:

Please make sure you are in a single-user mode. In the File menu, there is an option "Switch Company File to Multi-User Mode," which shows that you are in a single way:

And then open QODBC POS Setup Screen via Windows Start-> All Programs->QODBC Driver For Use with QuickBooks Pos->QODBC POS Setup Screen:

Please leave the "Current Company Setting" option blank so that QODBC POS can directly access the company file running in QuickBooks POS. And then click the "Test Connection" button:

Note: If you are getting a UAC error on Test Connection, Please try to connect using VB Demo or Excel. If VB Demo or Excel can connect, you should be able to use QODBC POS with your application(s). You may ignore the Test Connection windows security message as Test Connection may fail if it is executed in a different user context than a normal user, and there is no need to test the connection via QODBC Setup Screen once it has passed connect via VB Demo or Excel.

In this "Enter Company Name" window, please provide your QuickBooks POS company file and your workstation name (Machine Name). In case it does not connect and report this error:

Please try again by clicking the "Cancel" button in the "Enter Company Name" window. And if you are still facing the same error, please change QuickBooks POS to run in multi-user mode. Click the "Switch Company File to Multi-User Mode" option in File Menu.

Build Connection String

Click the "..." button at QODBC POS Setup Screen->General Window to enter the company file selection window:

In the company file selection window, QODBC POS will give you a list of all available company files (may take a few seconds) :

Select the company file you want to access, and then click ok. Then you will see the connection string has been built in the "Current Company Setting" option. And then, please click the "Test Connection" Button. QuickBooks POS will ask you to grant permission to QODBC POS:

Click the "Yes Always" button. If QODBC POS tells you the connection is successful, you can use our test tools VB Demo to view QuickBooks POS records via QODBC POS. Please select VB Demo via Windows Start->All Programs-> QODBC Driver for the use of QuickBooks POS->VB Demo, or you can directly go to C:\Program Files\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\VBDEMO32.EXE to find it.

In VB Demo, click "Connection"->"Add New Connection," then VB Demo will ask you to select a QODBC POS DSN to access QuickBooks POS:

Select DSN "QuickBooks POS Data" and click OK. Now you can use SQL statements to access QuickBooks POS:

And in QuickBooks POS references, you can see that QODBC POS has been included in the list of allowed applications:
