[QODBC-Desktop] QODBC v24 Subscription: Payment, Auto-Renewal, and Activation Guide

How Payment is Processed

Prior to QODBC version 24: QODBC was sold as a one-time purchase. Credit cards were not kept on file by QODBC - all web orders were handled through FastSpring, an online checkout platform.

Starting with QODBC version 24: The licensing model changed to a yearly subscription basis. Subscriptions are set up with automatic renewal and will renew at the end of each year (typically 30 days before expiration) using the payment method on file in your FastSpring account. You can opt for manual renewal instead.

Credit card storage: QODBC does not directly store credit card information. All payment processing is handled by FastSpring. To update payment information, log in to your FastSpring account portal at https://flexquarters.onfastspring.com/account.

Activating Your QODBC v24+ Subscription

1. Install QODBC version 24 or later. The QODBC 2024 license can only be activated on QODBC version 24.0.0.352 or above. v24 CDKeys will not work with pre-v24 installations.
2. Bypass the CDKey prompt during installation. If prompted to enter a CDKey during setup, bypass this step and complete the installation. Reboot the machine after installation.
3. Open the 32-Bit ODBC Administrator: Navigate to Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Data Sources (ODBC) (32-bit). The executable is located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe on 64-Bit Windows.
4. Select System DSN and configure: Highlight your QuickBooks Data DSN and click Configure.
5. Activate through the Activate/Deactivate tab:
   1. Navigate to the Activate/Deactivate tab.
   2. Select Activate.
   3. Enter your CDKEY and click Activate.
   4. Click Sync Now to confirm the activation status shows as Active.
6. Verify the subscription status. Open the QODBC Setup Screen → About Tab. The About screen should display your license status (read-write or read-only) and indicate it is active.

Why the Subscription Model?

The QODBC v24+ yearly subscription model aligns with how QuickBooks Desktop licensing has changed. As long as your QODBC subscription remains active, your license will stay current with QuickBooks version updates without requiring additional upgrades or purchases.
