[QODBC-Desktop] QODBC with QRemote Client Driver Licensing Requirements (2025) - Web Server (IIS / Apache / PHP)

The types of licenses needed vary based on your requirements and your environment setup.

1) Web Server applications accessing QuickBooks remotely with client browsers:

Machine A - QuickBooks, QODBC, QRemote Server, and QuickBooks company file
Machine B - QRemote Client, Web Server, and Web Browsers
Machine C, D, E – Web Browsers


License
Machine A – QODBC Server Edition License
Machine B – QRemote License
Machine C, D, E – No QODBC / QRemote License

 

2) Web Server applications accessing QuickBooks remotely with client applications – QuickBooks company file on a different machine:

Note: Accessing a QuickBooks company file from a different computer or shared drive can impact the performance of both QuickBooks and QODBC. Thus, we do not recommend such an environment setup. To achieve the best performance, it is advisable to run QODBC, the QuickBooks application, and the QuickBooks company file on the same computer.

Machine A - QuickBooks, QODBC, QRemote Server
Machine B - QRemote Client, Web Server, and Web Browsers
Machine C – QuickBooks company file
Machine D, E, F – Web Browsers


License
Machine A – QODBC Server Edition License
Machine B – QRemote License
Machine C – No QODBC / QRemote License
Machine D, E, F – No QODBC / QRemote License
