Troubleshooting - QXL 80040408 Error

Problem Description:

I am trying to export data from QXL. But when I clicked on the QXL export button, I got the error message below.

Unable to connect to QuickBooks. Ensure that QuickBooks is installed and running on this machine and that it is logged in as an Administrator to the Company file.

Error Occurred: ERROR [00000] [QODBC] QuickBooks Begin Session Failed. S0000 00000 [QODBC] QuickBooks Begin Session Failed. Error = 80040408, Could not start QuickBooks.

 

Solution:

The error message above indicates that QuickBooks is not running.

 

Step 1: Launch QuickBooks and Open the Company File

Open QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Log in to the desired company file using the QuickBooks user "Admin".

 

Log in to QuickBooks as the "admin" user to authorize the connection to the QuickBooks company file.

This is a one-time activity for each new application you want to connect to QuickBooks Data.

 

Step 2: Test connection using QXL

Go to Start → QXL

Click the Export/Run button.
