How to Setup QODBC in Window Server 2003 SP2 System

Note: QuickBooks is running on the server console.

QODBC DCOM Setting

     Make sure Server Edition Use DCOM Servers is checked.

Give Rights to Network Service

     Add this folder and give full rights to the NETWORK SERVICE account. This is where trace files and optimizer will go.

Enable DCOM

     In DCOMCNFG, make sure DCOM is enabled.

COM Security Configuration

Note: In DCOMCNFG, add NETWORK SERVICE to all four choices on the COM Security Tab

Access Permissions

     Edit Access Permission -> Edit limits. Give full permissions for NETWORK SERVICE.

     Edit Access Permissions -> Edit Defaults. Permit NETWORK SERVICE Local Access.

Launch and Activation Permissions

     Edit Launch and Activation Permissions -> Edit Limits. Give permission for NETWORK SERVICE Local Launch and Local Activation.

     Edit Launch and Activation Permissions -> Edit Defaults. Give full permissions for NETWORK SERVICE.

DCOM Config for qbXMLRP2eQODBCInteractive Properties

Authentication Level

     In the General Tab of qbXMLRP2eQODBCInteractive Properties, setup the Authentication Level as "Default."

Launch and Activation Permissions 

     Select Customize option in Launch and Activation Permissions -> Edit, and give full permissions for NETWORK SERVICE.

Access Permission

     Select Customize option in Access Permissions -> Edit, and give full permissions for NETWORK SERVICE.

Make sure Identity is set to Interactive user.

     In Identity Tab, select the "The Interactive User" option.
