Troubleshooting: QuickBooks (Canada Version) won't start

Problem Description

     When trying to open CA QuickBooks multi-currency edition you are getting an error message that reads "This application has failed to start because stlport_r50.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

Solutions

     To fix this problem please follow the steps below. Note: If you are using Windows Vista the following steps must be completed by a user who is an Administrator. Here are the steps needed to fix QuickBooks.

     1. Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (vcredist_x86.exe) - Download link provided below.

        vcredist_x86.exe

         File Size: 2.52 MB

     2. Download stlport_r50.dll and copy it into the folder called c:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks. The link provided below.

         File Size: 661 KB

     3. Open QuickBooks and from the File Menu select Open Company File - Navigate to your company file, select the file and click the Open button. From Intuit Canada support board link: http://support.intuit.ca/quickbooks/en-ca/kb/errors/error-messages/4512.html

This is great news. Quickbooks is the greatest. I have had my fair share of isesus with it, but by going to the third party client OneClickStatements , working with Quickbooks has been all good.

I am using Windows XP and i am facing the same problem . When i try to open QB , this message appears:
"This application has failed to start because stlport_r50.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
can u suggest a solution
