[QODBC-Desktop] How to trace the XML that is sent to and from QuickBooks by QODBC

Setup with odbcinst.ini File

Add Option Into odbcinst.ini File

Add the TraceWithXML=Yes option line to your:

For Windows XP System

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QODBC Driver For QuickBooks\odbcinst.ini file

For Windows Vista System

C:\Users\All Users\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\odbcinst.ini

[QODBC Driver for QuickBooks (32-bit)]
TraceWithXML=Yes

Turn On Detail Tracing

1) Turn on Detail Trace from: Start >> All Programs >> QODBC Driver for use with QuickBooks >> Configure QODBC Data Source

Go To the "System DSN" Tab, Select "QuickBooks Data" DSN & click "Configure."

Navigate to the "Message" Tab & enable the "Detail Tracing (Slow)" option.

2) Switch to the "Advanced" tab & Select "Add XML to Detail Trace Log"

3) Apply the changes. Close all the applications. ( If any of the application is already connected, QODBC will not start logging ) Connect again.

Run a Test Query

e.g.: SELECT * FROM Customer

Note: The trace log will be slow and significant, but you will see the sent and received XML. Don't forget to remove the trace option and turn off detail tracing when you're done.
