When trying to update a record through MS Access, I get the following error. "ODBC - update on a linked table 'Item' failed. [QODBC] Not supported (#10003)". I am using the trial version to test it out before purchasing and have the use DCOM Servers box setting checked and am able to get into the tables to view fine, just can't update anything.

I've purchased 2013 readonly USA version. Will it allow me to connect to QBW company data file on server over LAN without any instance of QB running or must it be like the VB example: on same machine with QB running? If later can I return for refund?

QODBC problem (the time it takes too long)
Hi
My name is Ankky, My boss Kaylon has been in contact with you. We would like buy your QODBC product, and you gave us 30 day evaluation CDkey.
I am writing the details about what the problem is with the QODBC and using a SQL Server “Linked Server” setup to connect with QuickBooks.
for example, I insert 1 row data from SQL Server into QuickBooks, it takes just 1 second if the company file of QuickBooks is empty. But it takes over 1 hour if the table of QuickBooks has been exist 10,000 rows.
for example, I select all data from the table ReceivePaymentLine of QuickBooks with QODBC, it takes just 2 minutes if the table ReceivePaymentLine only has 1000 rows data . But it takes over 1 hour if the table ReceivePaymentLine has over 20,000 rows data.
Usually, it has over 100,000 rows each table we used in QuickBooks, So the time it takes too long.
Could you please help us fix the problem or tell me how to set up QODBC?
Here is your 30 day evaluation CDkey:

Hi Kenny,
I would like to inform you that as QuickBooks/QuickBooks POS and QODBC are desktop base application/driver.
I would suggest you to create a desktop base application instead of Windows Service.
When an Application is Windows Service/IIS/Webserver/SQL Server ( any service based application) and is using QODBC you will needs a QODBC Server License.
I would like to inform you that QuickBooks required Active Desktop Session for running. You need to log in to server & run QuickBooks for work with QODBC. If no one logged on server you will get error "Could not start QuickBooks", So I would like to suggest you to that server need Active Desktop Session & QuickBooks in running mode for proper functionality.
I would like to suggest you to Keep QuickBooks running (No need to login to company file, just keep QuickBooks window open) and try to connecting using QRemote.
If you are still facing issue, I kindly request you to please raise a support ticket to the QODBC Technical Support department from below mentioned link & provide requested information:

We may need following information, I kindly request you to attach below listed files when replying to the ticket.

Hi Maggie,

Insert into Customer (Name) values ('ABC')

Hi Christian,
You can write data into QuickBooks from MS Access using VBA scripts. Please refer below mentioned article for sample VBA code:
http://support.flexquarters.com/esupport/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/2571/0/using-quickbooks-data-with-vba
Above article shows 32-Bit MS Office & used "QuickBooks Data" DSN. For 64 Bit MS Office you need to use QRemote 64 bit DSN "QuickBooks Data 64-Bit QRemote".
Also, you can write data in Quickbooks from Access using QODBC.
